Everyday, classroom lights are left on when classrooms are being unused, consuming energy that could potentially be conserved. Not only is this a waste of energy, but it is a waste of money and does not inspire environmental consciousness amongst the student population. Because of this, the researchers of this project, Nick Arsenault, Shawn Bell, Melanie Nunn and Natalie Mieles, set out to determine the feasibility of installing light sensors in existing classrooms on the University of Waterloo campus.
